Where we are?

La Veleta is located next to the small village of San Ambrosio, between the famous Tuna fishing town of Barbate and white town of Vejer de la Frontera, in the heart of the Costa de la Luz in Cadiz, at the southernmost tip of Europe, in front, a few kilometers away, Africa.
The closet airports are Jerez de la Frontera, Sevilla, Malaga and Gibraltar. Public transport in the area is scarce, so the best option is renting a car at the airport or getting a train to San Fernando Bahia Sur which is just 30 mins drive away.

Our surroundings and what to do?

This area has preserved a very high degree of conservation of the natural environment, far from the excessive urban development of most of the Spanish coast. It is an enclave of great scenic beauty, as San Ambrosio is located between the Natural Park of La Breña (which separates it from the beautiful beaches of Caños de Meca) and Vejer de la Frontera, one of the most unique white villages of Cadiz.

We are surrounded by the beautiful beaches of Conil, El Palmar, Zahora, Caños de Meca or the Lighthouse of Trafalgar, perfect for a surf, drink or sunset stroll. From La Veleta you're just pleasant, flat, 4km bike ride or walk down a rural dirt road with little traffic to the beach
In addition our central location in the province allows day trips to the Bay of Cadiz and the Ports (do not miss the famous Carnival of Cadiz, every February), Jerez de la Frontera, Medina Sidonia, Arcos de la Frontera, Sierra de Grazalema, beaches of Tarifa and Bolonia, etc..

The area also has a wide range of restaurants and leisure establishments, concentrated on the coast, for those who want to combine the tranquility of La Veleta with a bit of fiesta both day and night.
This area is famous for it incredible food, characterized by the variety and quality of local products, among which stand out the vegetables of the Conileña orchard and the meat of the Retinto beef, a highly appreciated autochthonous breed.

Special mention should be made of the seafood cuisine of the area, with its world famous Almadraba tuna, salted and canned fish and other seafood products of great quality at good prices. Every May, Barbate, Conil and other fishing villages are filled with gastronomic activities around the bluefin tuna fishing season.

We also have vineyards, olive groves, craft beer breweries and so much more to visit.  It's a moveable feast!
